FUKUOKA (TR) – Fukuoka Prefectural Police on Friday arrested an employee of the Yomiuri Shimbun newspaper for exposing himself inside a “snack” hostess club in Onojo City, reports the Asahi Shimbun (July 10).

Just after midnight, Yasuo Yoshimura, a 57-year-old employee in the general affairs division of the paper’s Seibu headquarters, is alleged to have dropped his pants to reveal the lower half of his body in front of a female employee.

The female employee then telephoned a male acquaintance who arrived at the club and apprehended the suspect.

Yoshimura was drunk at the time of the incident. He has been charged with public indecency. He told police that he was given permission by the employee to commit the act.

“We would like to offer an apology for this troublesome incident,” a spokesperson for the Yomiuri is quoted. “Once all the facts of the case are confirmed this matter will be dealt with in the most strict manner.”
