TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police on Friday announced the bust of a maid cafe in Musashino City for employing girls under 18 years of age, reports Jiji Press (May 15).

Officers accused Saito, the 51-year-old manager of the Marionette Cafe, located in the Kichijoji district, of staffing the parlor with female minors to serve alcohol and sit with customers — a violation of the Law Regulating Adult Entertainment Businesses.

Saito has reportedly admitted to the allegations. “I thought it would be lucrative to open an establishment similar to those in Akihabara,” the suspect is quoted by police.

Charges to enter Marionette Cafe begin at 1,000 yen.
