KANAGAWA (TR) – An unknown assailant shot an organized crime boss early Saturday morning in Fujisawa City, reports public broadcaster NHK (March 21).

At approximately 12:50 a.m., a pistol-wielding gunman shot Hideaki Mizushima, a 48-year-old upper-level executive of the Yamaguchi-gumi, in the abdomen on a road in a business district near JR Fujisawa Station.

The victim was transported to a nearby hospital. His condition is not considered serious.

At approximately 1:10 a.m., hospital staff alerted Kanagawa Prefectural Police about the Mizushima’s arrival. Investigators are now reviewing security camera footage in an attempt to identify the perpetrator.
