TOKYO (TR) – Yellow Cab, a venerable talent agency known for busty pin-up idols and models, has filed for bankruptcy, announced research firm Teikoku Databank on Friday, reports the Sankei Shimbun (Feb. 13).

The company ceased operations at the end of January with 400 million yen in liabilities, according to Teikoku Databank.

As of Saturday, the agency’s Web site was inaccessible.

The company had faced challenges as recently as 2012, when president Takanori Obenata was found hanged at the company’s headquarters in the Minami Aoyama district of Minato Ward.

Yellow Cab was founded in 1980. It rose to prominence over the next two decades, largely due to the popularity of pin-up stars Fumie Hosokawa, Shinobu Horie and Akiko Hinagata.

At the end of last month, the company terminated employment contracts, including those for top-name idols Eiko Koike and Eriko Sato.
