Reiko is a troubled woman in her 30s.
In heavy debt due to the rampant gambling of her husband, she is seeking to exchange her body for emotional assistance — but not just any man will do. Only a veteran of turbulent times who has acquired a highly skilled sexual technique is a suitable match for her vulnerable state.
Starring actor Kosho Tachikawa, 64, and the sultry Reiko Kobayakawa, the above scenario comprises the first instalment of the first instalment of the “Baby Boomer Series” by adult video label UIA.
According to Shukan Taishu (Dec. 1), the series, launched on November 16, showcases a more gentle side of the elderly male lead than is commonplace — a first in the Japanese industry, according to UIA.
“The stories center around women coming to men in the baby boomer generation to seek help with troubling issues, such as financial matters, in return for sexual favors,” says director Moretsu Wakisaka.
The main difference between this series and conventional AV films is the more subtle approach. Scenes featuring shiofuki (or female ejaculation) or the use of vibrators are not allowed.
“The rough stuff is absolutely out of the question,” says Wakisaka.
Instead, the “Babyboomer Series” attempts to recreate sex scenes as if they occurred in a private setting — a formula utilized by label Silk Labo, which makes AV films for female audiences.
In comforting a housewife (Miwako Yamamoto) who wants a divorce but is concerned about her finances in the future — the premise in the second episode — 67-year-old Yuji Yamada finds that his deft tongue and soft touch are more than adequate in supplying an erotic escape.
This is not the first use of a senior star in an AV film. Shigeo Tokuda, 80, is cited by Guinness as the world’s oldest porn actor. In fact, a distinct genre featuring elder stars exists in the industry.
Whether Japan’s aging population will find favor with the wrinkle in the genre created by the “Babyboomer Series” is not clear. But UIA has two more instalments in the works, both of which also star Kobayakawa and Yamada.
One amateur actress who appeared in the series is already a fan.
“At first I viewed it as a job, but I really got into the awesome orgasmic rush because of the foreplay,” says the amateur. (K.N.)
