TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police have issued a warrant for the arrest of the husband of former Morning Musume member Ai Kago, 26, on charges of loan sharking, it was learned on Thursday, reports Sports Nippon (Oct. 24).
Police claim that Kago’s husband, 47, loaned 2.5 million yen to an acquaintance at a rate of interest considered illegal.
Already in police custody is a 43-year-old member of the Yamaguchi-gumi organized crime group on the same charges.
News reports did not provide the name of Kago’s husband.
In September of 2011, Kago’s then boyfriend, Haruhiko Ando, a known affiliate of members of the Yamaguchi-gumi, was arrested for attempted extortion. Kago was interviewed by police at the time of the arrest.
Later that same month, Kago attempted suicide by slashing her wrists inside her apartment in Tokyo.
In December of 2011, Kago and Ando were married. The following June she gave birth to a girl.
