TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police on Tuesday raided a pachinko parlor operating illegally in Shinjuku Ward, reports public broadcaster NHK (Oct. 16).

Police took Yuki Kobayashi, the 21-year-old male manager of Monster, located in the Kabukicho district, and employee Takashi Iino, 44, into custody for allowing customers to wager on 37 high-return pachisuro (pachinko slot) machines considered to be in violation of the law.

Both suspects have reportedly admitted to the allegations, saying that they were forced to use the illegal machines due to external pressure regarding cash flow from the owner.

Officers also arrested four male customers present at the time of the raid.

At the entrance to the parlor, a security camera monitored customers entering the premises.

According to police, the operation has collected 40 million yen in revenue since September of last year.
