OSAKA (TR) – Osaka Prefectural Police on Monday arrested the leader of a prostitution ring that employed teenage girls, including a 14-year-old middle school student who served hundreds of customers over a six-month period, reports Sankei Sports (June 16).

Officers took Yusuke Miura, 35, into custody for violating the Anti-Prostitution Law and child welfare statutes regarding obscene behavior.

The suspect reportedly used deai-kei matchmaking sites to solicit male customers for 20 girls, of which nine were in middle school, in what is referred to as enjo kosai, or compensated dating.

According to police, the suspect has refused to comment on the allegations.

Between September and February, the 14-year-old girl provided sexual services to approximately 300 men. During that period she collected nine million yen in revenue, of which she was able to keep 80 percent, or 7.2 million yen.

“I ate out with my friends and went shopping,” the girl told police.

The matter came to light following the arrest in February of 60-year-old judicial clerk for Kyoto Prefecture for paying a different 14-year-old girl introduced by Miura for sexual services. Officers subsequently further examined the suspect’s operations. The judicial clerk was ordered to pay a 500,000-yen fine.
