Wakayama man accused of stealing 600 girls gym uniforms

GIFU (TR) – Gifu Prefectural Police on Wednesday arrested a 53-year-old staff member at a technical junior college for the theft of hundreds of high-school girls uniforms, reports Sankei Sports (June 11).

Officers from the Minami Police Station searched the home of Koichi Hirose, located in Mihama, Wakayama Prefecture, and discovered approximately 600 gym suits and cheerleading and volleyball uniforms.

“I started stealing them in the summer of last year,” the suspect is quoted by police. “I did it to wear them.”

The suspect is alleged to have taken the items from 50 schools in 12 prefectures, including Niigata and Osaka.
