TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police earlier this month re-arrested a chiropractor in Ota Ward for raping multiple women after drugging them with sleeping powder, reports the Asahi Shimbun (May 13).

On May 13, officers from the Omori Police Station took Hideaki Asakawa, 52, into custody for allegedly raping roughly 20 female patients during massage treatments he provides at his clinic located inside one unit of an apartment building.

Asakawa has reportedly denied the charges, saying that he was administering medical treatment. “(The sex) was consensual,” the suspect is quoted by police.

According to police, the suspect forced the victims to drink juice laced with a sleeping powder that he claimed was beneficial as far as internal cleansing.

On April 22, Asakawa was first arrested for allegedly raping a woman in her 20s last December. During the investigation, officers searched his apartment and discovered video files on his computer showing him sexually assaulting the other victims.

Asakawa opened his clinic 18 years ago. Female customers came to him via word of mouth.
