Fowl-mouthed seductress drugging and robbing Tokyo night owls

Shukan Bunshun Apr. 24The pouty look known by the term ahiru-guchi (or duck mouth), which is formed by a protrusion of the lips relative to the cheeks, has been considered highly attractive on young women in Japan over the past few years.

But some men in Tokyo are now likely reassessing what they find appealing in a lady after being played for a fool by an attractive woman dubbed the “duck-mouth girl,” who has been drugging and robbing male targets across the metropolis since at least October of last year, reports Shukan Bunshun (Apr. 24).

In the middle of December, a 32-year-old man employed in the real estate industry got a call from the woman, who had been in his office two months before as a customer. The pair went to a convenience store to buy alcohol before departing for his apartment in Meguro Ward.

“Inside the apartment, he drank alcohol laced with sleeping pills,” says a journalist covering police matters for a television station. “The woman got away with 57,000 yen in cash and a wristwatch worth 500,000 yen.”

On April 3, police released footage from a security camera of the woman. Attired in a dark coat and white gloves, the woman, appearing to be in her 20s, is seen shopping inside the store. In some images, in which she peers from beneath a leopard-print hat, she does indeed possess a mouth resembling a mallard.

Since then, other victims have come forward, claiming to have been swindled in such places as Roppongi, Ueno and Yotsuya. On Christmas Eve, the woman met a man in his 30s inside a soba shop in Shibuya.

“It was the same pattern as the Meguro case,” says the same reporter. “The two went back to his place in Setagaya Ward. He drank a spiked cocktail and later found he had been robbed of 300,000 yen.”

An office worker in his 40s was swindled out of his watch and the contents of his wallet in Ebisu in October after he and the woman visited a love hotel near Meguro Station. “She was wearing the leopard-print cap that time also,” says an investigator. “She told him she was a voice actress.”

In spite of her image having been released publicly, she is still at large. A number of contributors to sites on the Internet has postulated that she is a “new half,” or transsexual. According to police, however, that is unlikely to be the case.

“From the footage, a height of approximately 155 centimeters is reasonable,” says the investigator. “Results of an image analysis show that the bone structure of this offender can only be that of a woman.”

Indeed a case of a thorn in a beautiful rose, says Shukan Bunshun. (K.N.)
