TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police on Monday announced the arrest of two Filipino hostesses working in Shinjuku for drugging male customers and then stealing money from their bank accounts, reports the Sankei Shimbun (Jan. 27).

Officers took two hostesses working at Little Cat, which is located in the red-light district of Kabukicho, into custody on theft charges.

Emanuel John, the manager of the club, a Nigerian national, was previously arrested on the same charges in August.

On August 23, a hostess allegedly spiked a vodka drink served to a 45-year-old male customer with a sleeping powder. His cash card was then stolen from his wallet and taken to a nearby convenience store ATM, where 680,000 yen was withdrawn.

Both suspects, aged 37 and 35, have reportedly admitted to the allegations.

Little Cat has been in operation for seven years, during which time it is believed customers have been swindled out of a total of 300 million yen.

About 70 percent of the club’s revenue went to the Nigerian owner, who is known to have constructed a palatial home in Nigeria worth 150 million yen, police said, according to Jiji Press (Jan. 27).
