Tokyo police arrested the Ghanaian manager of Club Tunnel for illegally employing foreign women

TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police earlier this week busted a hostess club staffed with foreign women in Minato Ward for illegal employment, reports TBS News (Nov. 28).

On Tuesday, officers raided Club Tunnel and arrested the 29-year-old manager, a native of Ghana, employee Koichi Sano, 42, and two other suspects for the alleged employment of women residing in Japan on tourist visas — a violation of the Immigration Control and Refugee Recognition Act.

Between July and October, the club employed seven foreign women, including an Italian national. The seven women were also arrested.

Since opening two years ago, Club Tunnel has collected 200 million yen in revenue.

Police have received complaints from customers about being drugged and robbed at the club. Investigators are now looking into the complaints.
