TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police on Tuesday announced the arrest of two suspects for the illegal recruitment of sex workers, Taito Ward, reports Fuji Network News (Mar. 12).

Officers took Korean nationals Bae Yongsuk, 54, and her brother Bae Gunsong, 51, into custody for scouting women from Korea to provide sex services on an out-call basis from an apartment in the Uguisudani area of Taito Ward.

Between December and March, the pair is alleged to have employed two women who entered Japan on short-term visas. The suspects have been charged with violating immigration control laws regarding illegal employee recruitment.

Bae Yongsuk has reportedly admitted to the allegations, while her brother denies the charges. “I had no idea what was going on in the apartment,” said the suspect.

According to investigators, the business generated 2.4 million yen each month.
