TOKYO (TR) – Kanagawa Prefectural Police on Monday arrested a fellow officer for soliciting a 16-year-old prostitute, reports the Sankei Shimbun (Feb. 25).

Officers from the Yamato Police Station took Tetsuya Takahashi, 54, a sergeant from the Yamato Police Station, into custody after he allegedly paid 10,000 for a 30-minute sex session with the first-year, high-school student inside a vehicle at a toll road parking lot on November 3 of last year.

Takahashi reportedly acknowledges the facts of the case but denies the allegations. “I thought she was an adult,” he is quoted as saying.

According to prefectural police, Takahashi’s home was searched in January regarding his participation in another suspected case of child prostitution. The contact information of the 16-year-old girl was discovered on a mobile phone that was seized during the search.

Takahashi is alleged to have become acquainted with the school girl through a “two-shot dial” service, in which a phone line is used to arrange male-female encounters.

“I did it to satisfy my sexual desire,” he told officers in explaining his motive.
