TOKYO (TR) – The Narcotics Control Division of the Kyushu Regional Bureau of Health and Welfare announced on Wednesday the re-arrest of a top member of the Matsuba-kai organized crime group for smuggling stimulant drugs, reports the Sankei Shimbun (Nov. 28).
On November 6, Matsuba-kai upper member Yoshikane Toyonaga, 64, allegedly supplied a 39-year-old member of the Yamaguchi-gumi criminal organization with 40 grams of stimulant drugs.
According to the division, the suspect is believed to be involved in the trafficking of drugs between his home in Tokyo and the northern part of Kyushu.
In late June, Toyonaga was arrested on the same charges after 100 grams of stimulant drugs (with a street value of eight million yen) were found in his residence.
After being released without an indictment, the suspect was re-arrested on the latest charge on Tuesday.
