TOKYO (TR) – In a sweep of the entertainment area of Ueno last week, Tokyo Metropolitan Police arrested the manager of a hostess club in the Ueno entertainment area specializing in Chinese companions for unlawful employment, reports Fuji News Network (Nov. 16).

On Thursday, officers took the 43-year-old manager of pub and club Moon Rabbit, Gan Yang, into custody for allegedly employing three staff members of Chinese nationality since opening in March of 2010 in violation of employment laws.

According to police investigators, the manager has admitted to the allegations. “I wanted to hire young and cute girls,” the suspect is quoted by police, as reported by TV Asahi.

One blogger writes that during a visit last year the club was charging 4,000 yen for a 70-minute session with a hostess.

According to investigators, the Moon Rabbit has 20 Chinese hostesses registered on its books and averages about three million yen in revenue each month.

Also taken into custody on Thursday was a 26-year-old Bangladeshi on charges of aggressively touting for a Filipino pub in the streets of Ueno.
