Tokyo police have arrested a 29-year-old man who has admitted to assaulting 20 women

TOKYO (TR) – The Public Safety department of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police announced on Friday the arrest of company employee Makoto Yoshikawa (29) on suspicion of attempted sexual assault on a female high-school student after tricking her into assisting him with a faked injury, reports the Sankei Shimbun (Oct. 12).

Since December of last year the cities of Fussa and Hanemura had received numerous reports of similar crimes, and had given the perpetrator the nickname “Battari-kun” (Mr. Knock-up).

Yoshikawa, a resident of Mizuhocho, Musashino City, admitted to “about 20” previous assaults, in which he claimed to have been inspired by an adult video in which a man peers up a bandaged woman’s skirt. “Since it went well after the first time I did it, I continued,” the suspect is quoted by police investigators.

On the night of April 20, Yoshikawa, claiming “my leg hurts,” entered an elevator inside an apartment in Fussa City with a 17-year old high-school girl. He requested that she help him “to rest” on the staircase landing and apply bandages, upon which he pushed the girl down and thrust his hand into her underwear.
