Tokyo police released security video showing suspects in the beating death of a man in Roppongi

TOKYO (TR) – Surveillance footage showing the suspects in this week’s beating death of restaurant manager Ryosuke Fujimoto in Tokyo’s Roppongi entertainment district has been released by police, reports the TV Asahi (Sep. 7).

Early on September 2, a group of men in ski masks and armed with metal bats arrived at club Flower and assaulted Fujimoto, who was drinking in the club’s VIP room with a party of five or six persons. The 31-year-old suffered substantial head injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital, where he died one hour and 20 minutes later.

The released footage shows nine men, many in dark jackets and pants, moving toward Flower at 3:40 a.m.

According to investigators, Fujimoto had a confrontation with a group of four young men at Flower the week before, when he was visiting the club for the first time. The group soon after apologized to Fujimoto. The men are alleged to have been a part of the group that attacked Fujimoto one week later.

Approximately 300 customers were on the premises on the night of the incident.

The footage also recorded two vans, one silver and the other black, used by the suspects leaving from just outside Flower five minutes after the attack.
