Former model and DJ Ayumi Takahashi gets prison term for second drug arrest
TOKYO (TR) – A popular former model and DJ was sentenced by the Tachikawa branch of the Tokyo District Court on Thursday to one year and four months in prison following third arrest for drug possession, reports TV Asahi (Sep. 6).

Ayumi Takahashi, 27, was taken into custody in May after a search of her Tokyo home revealed stimulant drugs.

Takahashi had been serving a two-year sentence suspended for three years after officers arrested the DJ for possession of 0.9 grams of dried cannabis in August of last year, and again for use of stimulants the following month.

“By committing such a crime during a probationary period and showing a high affinity for drugs,” read the court statement, “reveals a lack of conscious deliberation about values and behavior.”

Takahashi, in tears during the proceedings, was apologetic. “For the benefit of my family members I’ve troubled I want to be released from prison quickly,” she said.
