Ten years have passed since the deregulation of the taxi industry in Japan. And now the general consensus is that there are too many cars on the road, and not enough customers for them.

“You should see the cars line up on the streets around Kabukicho, around the time the bars start closing, with nary a passenger in sight” a reporter from the desk of a local newspaper tells Shukan Taishu (Apr. 9).

Since drivers seem to have more time on their hands, there’s a story making the rounds that an attractive young woman has been coming on to them.

Her technique is to board the car and once settled into the back seat, show a lot of leg and proposition the driver.

One driver, while waiting in a queue, saw the woman get out of the car in front of him, who refused to carry the woman.

He then relates, “She got in my car and said to me, ‘Say, won’t you buy me? I’ll do it for 5,000 yen.'”

“So hell yes, I was surprised,” one driver tells the magazine. “Usually I’m used to hearing customers ask for discounts for long-distance fares.

“Naturally I’d be interested, but I was at work, and I sensed it might lead to trouble. I told her no, and asked her to get out of the car.”

The driver said he knew the driver in the queue who’d refused to carry up the woman. “Afterwards he told me she’d asked him for 10,000 yen,” he chuckles. “She must have been getting desperate, and offered it to me for half price.”

This technique, of catering to cabbies, seems to be a new form of streetwalking that’s been catching on around the city.

Another driver said he was propositioned by a woman who appeared to be in her 50s while waiting in a queue at a certain station on Tokyo’s Yamanote Line.

“At stations around drinking areas, it’s become pretty common after the trains stop running,” says a veteran cabbie. “Not long ago, two of them in my car said to me, ‘How about buying our panties? We’ll take them off for you right on the spot.'”

After scouring the city, the reporter finally finds a driver willing to relay his account of scoring with an lady who’s described as a dead ringer for popular actress Erika Toda.

“It was about 2:00 a.m. on a February night,” recalls the 54-year-old cabbie, a divorcee. “I was cruising on a main drag lined with lots of famous boutiques, and she flagged me down. As soon as she got in the car she began making a sales pitch.”

“It struck me as being strange,” the driver continues. I suppose it was unlikely she was a pro — probably an OL. Naturally at first I refused, but she said she’d do it for 5,000 yen. ‘C’mon, I’ve been standing out in the cold. Can’t you give a girl a break?’ she pleaded.”

Since he couldn’t very well pull his car into a hotel, the driver went looking for a suitable spot on a lonely back street.

She climbed in front and helped the driver remove his trousers and shorts, and promptly went down on him.

“She was really skilled,” the driver said, rolling his eyes. “After sucking me with her soft inner lips, she took me as far as I could go.”

The with speed and technique that comes only from experience, she removed her panties, cranked the driver’s seat to the horizontal position and the two were soon making the beast with two backs.

Afterwards the driver was somewhat unnerved to see the woman looking at his name plate.

“It displays the driver’s name and company name,” says Yukio Murakami, an authority on the sex industry. “So if he gets rough with her, or refuses to pay, she would be able to track him down and make trouble. When you think about it, there’s no safer John for girls in the business than a taxi driver.”
