TOKYO (TR) – The support group representing House of Councillors member Kusuo Oshima spent political funds at a gay bar in Tokyo, it was revealed on Monday, reports the Sankei Shimbun (Dec. 27).

According to a political funds report for 2010, Oshima’s group on July 1 recorded 25,000 yen as an expenditure for the purchase of food and drinks and informal conversation inside the club Snack Kusuo, located in Shinjuku Ward’s 2-chome gay quarter.

The bar has received a degree of notoriety overseas, having played host to deceased Queen singer Freddie Mercury.

Oshima, 50, is a member of the Democratic Party of Japan and a native of Fukuoka Prefecture.

    What is the problem for the Tokyo reporter? Is he/she from some long forgotten inaka in south-east of Shikoku and unaware of XXI century? There should be more spent in gay bars. They offer great atmosphere, nice service. I will vote for Oshima-san. We should support discriminated minorities in our society..

    It seems the reporter does not understand the word “notoriety”. Perhaps he/she is undereducated and hopelessly so. .. Osake e itte benkyo shite kisha-kun.
