NAGOYA (TR) – Employees at a dating service in Aichi Prefecture were arrested this week for alleged prostitution violations, reports the Sankei Shimbun (Oct. 11).
Hiroyuki Tanaka, the manager of the Shinkoibito Shokai Sentaa (New Lovers Introduction Center), and two others were taken into custody yesterday by the Aichi prefectural police in Nagoya for offering services in violation of the Anti-Prostitution Law.
The service, which the 55-year-old Tanaka started 15 years ago, had 2,200 men and 400 women registered on its books. Men were introduced to female members for between 10,000 and 20,000 yen, with revenues since inception reaching 280 million yen.
Tanaka reportedly denies the allegations. “This is not a prostitution service,” the manager is quoted as telling police.
On six occasions between July and September, officers observed male and female members meeting one another in front of hotels in central Nagoya.
