TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police officers earlier this week arrested four suspects involved in the online sale and electromagnetic copying of large quantities of uncensored adult video DVDs, reports the Sankei Shimbun (Oct. 5).

According to officers, Akinori Mishina, 24, and Shinichi Fukuoka, 25, operated an online store that sold uncensored discs copied electromagnetically from an apartment in Nerima Ward’s Shakujiidai district.

During a search of the premises on Monday, officers seized approximately 30,000 discs and 47 copying machines. Mishina, Fukuoka, and two others were taken into custody.

The site began selling discs in April, with average sales totaling roughly 1,000 discs a day at a rate of 150 yen per copy. An overseas server was being utilized.

By law, films available in Japan are required to have genitalia properly censored. Further, changes in legislation made in July regarding the sale of uncensored DVDs copied electromagnetically were enacted to prohibit sales.
