Roppongi SM bar raided, busted for indecent exposure

TOKYO (TR) – Law enforcement made four arrests for indecent exposure at a SM bar in Tokyo’s Roppongi entertainment district on Thursday, reports Nikkan Sports (Mar. 4).

Members of the special investigative branch regarding community safety of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police entered club Roppongi Jail at approximately 9:55 a.m. and arrested 43-year-old manager Kazumi Takaya and three others.

At the club, which opened in 2001, male patrons are charged 5,000 yen for 60 minutes. Women pay a 2,000-yen entry fee for unlimited access. The club specializes in allowing customers to partake in SM activities with each other and the employees. Other outlets exist in Osaka and Nagoya.

Upon seeing a 29-year-old female office worker exposing herself to other customers at around 10 a.m., officers took Takaya into custody. A 48-year-old male customer and 33-year-old female employee-in-training at the club were also among the four arrested.

Wire service Jiji Press reports that the club collects approximately three million yen each month in revenue.

An investigative source says that the police have been monitoring Roppongi Jail since last October. “It’s a shop that offers [customers the opportunity to perform] indecent acts,” said the source.

Nikkan Sports notes that while public indecency violations are common at so-called “happening bars” and kappuru kissa cafes it is rare for such a raid to take place at an SM operation.
